Rene Russo was born in Burbank California. She was the daughter of Shirley (Balocca) Barmaid as well as a factory laborer, as well as Nino Russo. Rene's father was a mechanic and left the family at the age of Rene had turned two. The mother of Rene was the sole caretaker for Rene. Her mother and father were both of Italian, German, English and Irish origin. Rene had scoliosis in her junior year and was required to wear a torso-length brace. Her height was already an impressive girl, which led to her being given the title of Jolly Green Giant from her classmates. Her brace was taken off when she started Burroughs High School, and even though her fellow classmate Ron Howard joined her there as well, Rene was somewhat of an outsider. Rene needed to be kicked out of high school as she entered the 10th grade. Then she took on a range different part-time jobs over the course of 18 months, many with the benefit of free. The theater she worked at was as a hostess where there were no fees for movies. She then became a restaurateur and got the food she needed for free. In the end, she worked for Disneyland in a Disneyland retail store, working as a cashier. She worked two jobs simultaneously. Her solely paid job was working in an optical manufacturing facility which was accountable to inspect the lenses of customers.
